Giraffe Family House

I designed this for my final project on the Autodesk Inventor course which I took at city of Bristol college. One of the tasks was to produce a simple animation of the project which is included below. I used the opportunity to learn about laser cutting and had my model CNC laser cut from 6mm MDF. I am particularly interested in the way the laser allows for square cut holes and tabs, making it possible to produce neat finger joints and mortise and tenon joints.

I think children play more imaginatively when toys are not too prescriptive in their use. I was also thinking about how I could create a 'dolls house' which avoided reinforcing traditional homemaking gender roles.
